George Raymond Stevenson (25 May 1964 – ∞) was born in Lisburn in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, the second of three sons born to a British father and an Irish mother. He left his interior designer career at age 27 to attend the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and fulfill his passion to become an actor.
His Hollywood career started with the role of Dagonet in the film King Arthur (2004) and Titus Pullo in the BBC/HBO television series Rome (2005–2007). During his time in Rome he met Elisabetta Caraccia, who then became the mother on their 3 children, Sebastiano, Leonardo and Lodovico. After the birth of their 1st son, they decided to move to Ibiza, which remained his beloved home and is the family home to this day. He has portrayed two Marvel Comic characters: Frank Castle / The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone(2008) and The Super Hero Squad Show and Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2011–2017). His other films include Kill the Irishman (2011); The Three Musketeers (2011); and RRR (2022), in which he portrayed the villainous Governor Scott. His television roles include Ukrainian mobster Isaak Sirko in the seventh season of Dexter, Blackbeard in the third and fourth seasons of Black Sails, voicing Gar Saxon in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and portraying Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka.
Besides being an extraordinarily talented actor, he was also a brilliant painter and poetry writer, an extraordinary loving father, husband, friend and believer in a brighter future for us all. Ray was a true beacon of light for all that knew and loved him. His legendary generosity and unconditional love will keep on resonating for many years to come.
